Who is Dave of ‘Dave Alexander Center for Social Capital’?

| February 29, 2024 12:41 pm

And why is his name on our Center?

Dave Alexander is founder and managing member of Caljet of America, LLC, which he began in 1982 with $1,000 borrowed from his credit card and turned into the largest independent motor fuels terminal in the Southwestern United States. In fact, he now has 11 energy-related businesses. His philosophy and practices brought him great success and made him a perfect candidate to be our founding sponsor as we turned our Social Capital network into its own platform.

[Editors] What attracted you to support our Center for Social Capital?

Dave Alexander: I met the founder-to-be of the Center for Social Capital, Chris Benguhe, at my favorite restaurant, that we both frequented. After learning about him and his writing skills and his creative mind, I tried to hire him to write my autobiography. He turned my offer around and taught me how to write and learn more about myself. Now, I am very confident in writing about anything, at any time, now that I know myself better than I ever have in my life.

Upon reflection of my life, this phrase has been my life, living the Scout Law: “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.” Everyone who has a relationship with me will have peace of mind in how we deal with and treat each other.

My three reports [managers of Dave’s businesses] each have the same mission statement: “I give Dave peace of mind.” This peace of mind kept expanding to giving them the same peace of mind that I have, and then it expands to all employees and their families. It became natural to expand peace of mind to all customers and users of our products and services, banks and government. This concept kept expanding as we were able to give back to society.

I am so grateful for the development of the Dave Alexander Center for Social Capital, knowing that each indefatigable honoree member will also gain and spread the same peace of mind that I have, and that makes me proud to be affiliated with the Center and the other members.

[Editors] How do you remember your involvement with our Social Capital team unfolding?

Dave: I have now turned the table on Chris and taught him that he was an entrepreneur and needed to realize his innate skills and found a company of his own to share with the world. His company will grow now that he knows more about himself and how to help others through his new insight about himself.

[Editors] As a businessman, you don’t get involved with enterprises from the standpoint of offering philanthropy but rather evaluate the viability of their business concept. What do you see as the future of this Social Capital movement?

Dave: Chris and his partners will now teach others to open their minds and the minds of their business clients to the importance of reaching out to their employees, and then those companies will gain great exposure because of their social capital.

I believe that Chris and his partners’ passion for this concept will make it successful. Those chosen to be honored will want to participate and invest in this venture, and associate with and learn from one another. As Dave Alexander Center for Social Capital is seen on social and other media sources, thousands of others will want to learn and associate with us and participate with us as allowed.

Dave’s bio is presented on this site’s “About Us” page. His life is guided by a humble philosophy: It is more important to be the best for the world than to be the best in the world. Dave’s lessons in leadership are simple but profound, based in his faith in God and his inherent drive to retain and protect his integrity. He doesn’t have to work at it; it is an indelible part of his character of his larger-than-life personality.
